A man in a tattered cloaked walked across the old roman bridge near hadrein's fortress. Rome was a beautiful city filled with many wonderous buildings that were the hight of building engienuity in a time when they still used swords and faught in massive formations. Kain could imagine living in such a time, with no guns. The though pleased him, guns were a cowards weapon after all.

Kain stopped halfway across the bridge and looked down the river to a more recently built one. He was surprised, the one he stood on had been built in roman times and was still standing strong, and capable of supporting cars and trucks. It would be a shame to see such a relic damaged. He smirked and jumped up onto the wall, and continued walking.

Kain looked around as he walked, not noticing the man who'd been following him. He was unaware of Rome's trouble with pickpockets and thieves, nor that they preyed on outsiders such as himself. He wasn't worried about such things because anyone who tried to steal from him ended up dead.

The man ran past and bumped into kain, his hand slipping into the assassin's pocket. He got about three feet before Kain relised what had happened. A dagger of black ice formed and he three it, missing the man's skull by inches. instead the blade tore through the theives ear. The thief let out a cry and slipped, falling over.

Kain was on him faster than the man could blink, another black dagger poised to drive into the man's throat.

Parius Chitose strolled through Rome. He was getting used to all the pathways, and back alleys so he could better navigate in this place. He had recently came to Rome to start the Vanguard, his own defense against the evils of the world. Parius also had made them, in case the other Organizations went the wrong way. However, he was slightly saddened by some of the sights around him. Some of these people didn't have houses, just sitting in alleys, almost as if they were waiting to die. Parius knew that those people would never be able to defend themselves against, say, the Hollows, or the Arrancar.

Brushing some of his raven-black hair out of his eyes, he heard a yelp of pain. Looking around, Parius saw a man fall down. Almost in a flash, another man had a black dagger, and was about to plunge it into the man's throat. Parius Shunpo'ed over, and grabbed the man's hand, with the dagger. Not joking around, one of Parius's eyes Hollowfied, as he simply said, "Stop." However there was alot of authority behind his voice. Parius then simply stared, coldly, at the man with the dagger, as the other man ran away.

Kain's knife pricked the mugger's throat when his hand was caught and the blade stopped dead. The sudden appearance of this newcomer drew all of Kain's attention, seeing as he'd managed to effortlessly stop Kain's attack. And the athority in the man's voice, It pleased Kain greatly. "Maybe you are the one i seek." He said quietly. He dropped the dagger, but as he did a long thin blade formed in his other hand.

He thrust if for the man's face but the man jumped back with incredible speed after releasing Kain's hand. Kain was quite fast himself, so that was something. Kain followed up his thrust by throwing the blade and made a spear of black ice, before blurring towards his opponant. He preformed three heavy thrusts with the weapon, all aimed for mid torso, before spinning low and sweeping the spear's long handle to try trip his opponant.

Parius heard the guy mumble beneath his breath, when he tried to slice Parius's face. Shunpo'ing back, Parius's hand immediately went for his blade. Which wasn't there. Looking down, Parius realized he hadn't brought Anokoku with him. "Shit." He said, before turning to the man. He had thrown his black blade at Parius, which he easily dodged. Then, the guy came at him with a spear. Dodging the three strikes, Parius leaped up into the air at the low sweep.

Parius then just looked at the guy. "Who are you? I'm not going to fight without your name." Parius then slapped his own forehead. "Crap, I didn't even introduce myself. My apologies. I am Parius Chitose. Now, you try." He said, reaching into his pocket. Parius gripped a black bead, and reached his hand out. Pushing Spiritual energy into it, a blade formed in his hands. "Well. Now it's a bit more fair, wouldn't you say?" Parius chuckled, before growing a bit more serious, and drew Anokoku. "Let's go." Parius surged at the guy, Aiming a few swipes at random parts of his body. He made them fast enough to where they would be a nuisance to dodge. Parius then kicked at the man's head, and moved back, in case of a counterattack.

Kain leapt back confused by the man's strange mannerisms. He was trying to kill this man, and he wanted Kain's name? Was he so sure of victory. Kain stuck his spear into the ground and mumbled. "Kain.. Lasdren... Or Darkblade if you prefere.... " Kain grumbled a little and let the man named Parias do what ever it was he was doing. As it turned out, he summoned a black katana. Kain considered the blade. Without another word he picked up his spear.

Parius charged in and kain spun his spear to parry the strikes, though one made it past his defense and cut his arm as he did. Then the man tried to kick him in the face and kain went low with a sweep kick, though his opponant dodged. Kain sprang up with speed and thrust the spear and released it so ut launched at parius. Kain blurred behind parius as a black katana of similar design formed in his hand, though the back side was also bladed in a wavy design.

Kain slashed at the sword two handed at Parius' back (or chest if he'd turned around.) in a left right motion, then trust the sharp tip aiming to stab his foe in the gut.

Parius nodded at Kain, though he noticed he sounded a bit confused, when he asked for a name. Parius watched as he threw the spear. He managed to dodge it, but it was a bit to close for comfort. That's what I get for not taking this seriously. Parius thought, before turning to meet Kain's next attacks. Managing to get his chest most of the way, though he felt the tip of the blade bite into his chest, on one stroke. Wincing in pain, Parius quickly backed up, dodging the stab in the process. Checking the damage, and finding it not life threatening at the moment, Parius looked back at Kain.

Placing his hand on his face, Parius ripped down, summoning his hollow mask. Not talking, at all, Parius fired a Cero right at Kain, before moving in for the attack. He started to strike at Kain, aiming mostly to stop him. He struck at Kain's knees, arms, anything to stop him from moving. He had speed behind his attacks as well, augmenting them more with Shunpo. Whether he succeeded or not, Parius would get ready to block Kain's attacks.

Kain watched parius summon a vizard mask. So he was a vizard, interesting. Still held to the ideals of shinigami by the looks of things, or he was just a goody two shoes. Parius came at Kain again with over bearing speed. Kain countered the strikes but on some he was to slow. When parius backed off he'd taken a cut across the leg ad another on his upper arm.

Kain noticed a change in atmosphere. It happened slowly, but it was there. Something was going to happen. Kain pushed the tought aside and lunged, katana raised. He slashed, aiming for parius' wrists. It was common for him to aim to disarm his prey before killing them. It might not work so well here, so he lowered the blade and slashed up, tryin to get under parius' blade and slash at his ribs.

Parius watched, without making a noise, as Kain came at him, slashing at his wrists, Parius dodged these, and the slash upwards at his chest. Parius backed off, before disengaging his mask. He hated using it for longer than a couple of minutes. Parius then said, "I'm not going to play around anymore." Parius pointed his blade at Kain, and merely said, "Bankai." A globe of black energy surrounded him, and, after about 3 seconds, broke.

Parius's hair now went down to his waist, and was tinged white at the ends. He lost his coat, and gained a cape-like attachment to his waist. Parius also gained a new blade, with a more stream-lined look to it, inlaid with purple. Finally, he gained a black wing on his right shoulder, made of Rietsu. He dropped his blade down, from it's pointing position. He then summoned a second blade, made of darkness. It was a straight sword, but Parius added on the serrated edge to it, giving it a more menacing apearance. "Well, let us dance, shall we?" Parius fired 3 Dark Flares at Kain, each with 1/3rd the power of a Cero, to test him out.

His opponant went into Bankai, so Kain copied, going into final form by stabbing his blade into the ground. He left it there and created two longswords, one with a notched edge good for trapping enemy swords, the other a thinner, double edged blade. "We're not so different it seems." He said. He raised a hand and 20 spears of ice formed, spread out wide. He launched them at parius in a volley at the same time his opponant fired 3 balls of dark energy. his spears took out 2 and continued, the third ball hit kain and knocked him back.

Kain rolled backward and back to his feet, with a kick he sent a blade of ice at Parius. He regained his footing and rushed forward, as a shot sounded and Kains instincts kicked in. Kain twisted as a bullet ripped across his back. It would have hit him in the heart had he not turned as it fired. He lost he feet again and fell into a roll. He felt blood trickling down his back. "Damnit, will you dogs never stop?" He traced the bullet trajectory to a tower. He spotted several more gunmen on the roof tops above. He looked at Parius. "I'll make you a deal." He said, half heartedly deflecting another bullet from the sniper and launched a ice shard at the tower.

"Help me deal with these mutts, and I'll call you master from this day forward." Kain said. He wouldn't beat parius, he knew as much. fate was basically telling him to work for the man. There were ten armed men around them, and one sniper, who'd barely avoid kain's attack. Each other man had an assault rifle, they likely had special bullets too, this was karthos prime after all. No way they weren't prepared for souls. Kain blurred and scaled the building as they opened fire into the street, and cut the closest gunman's throat open.

Parius was a bit surprised by the Spiritual Pressure kain had released, and surmised to be similar to his Bankai. Watching him summon two blades from the one he stabbed into the ground, Parius said nothing back to Kain when he spoke. He summoned his Black Aegis when Kain summoned a multitude of ice spears, and threw them at him, destroying two of his flares. The shield barely held up to the spears, and Parius had to drop it straight afterwards. Noticing a speeding blade coming at him, Parius tried to dodge, and gained a fresh cut across his cheek. Grabbing the wound, Parius heard a gunshot ring out. He saw that they were now surrounded by people.

Parius finally said something, and his voice seemingly had traces of anger. "I hate being interrupted in a good battle. These guys were as good as dead the moment they interfered. Consider your deal taken." Parius Shunpo'ed right on top of one of them, slicing the gunman in half horizontally. Plunging his blade into the ground, he summoned spikes to deal with the others, until he, or Kain could get to them. The blades were a foot and a half long, and would come out of the ground, rooftops, anywhere that the gunmen were. Parius now recognized Kain as an ally, so the spikes would fade through him with no damage. He then let his hand target the tower where the sniper was, and charged up his Black Dragon Wave, firing when it was ready.

kain used blurr to dance across the rooftops, cutting and stabbing anything in his way. Black spikes emerged from the ground and killed more, as Kain Jumped at the sniper in the tower using bringer light to launch himself across the distance. The sniper fired once before Kain reached him. The bullet ripped past his face leaving a bloody graze. A black ice spear formed and kain thrust, pinning his target to a bell in the tower.

Then kain lept from the tower and landed next to the man he'd previously been fighting, who'd finished off the last few guys. "You are strong, worthy of commanding me." Kain knelt before parius. "What are your orders, Sir?" Kain asked head bowed.

Parius stared around at the bodies. He would have to clean up this mess, as well. Disengaging his Bankai, and sheathing his blade, Parius waited for Kain to kill the sniper. As the man landed near him, and asked for an order. Parius looked at him, a fire now burning in his eyes. "You will join my organization. You will be one of my Blades, I would think. I am trying to defend the humans from the threats the Gotei, and Coalition seem not to get to. We also stand in the way, in case one of them goes rogue. Now then, follow me. We go to my base of operations." Parius started walking, with Kain behind him. They got to the Colosseum, and Parius took Kain inside. The Vanguard was one more full.
