Artorias Lucis Caelum WIP

Name: Artorias Lucis Caelum

Personality: Artorias is, an a simplistic way of looking at it, a very laid-back, nice, good-natured King. He never ruled over Lucis in a style like his forefathers. Instead, he ruled with an almost lazy attitude. The opposite of a King you would generally think of. Hoever, underneath his laidback, lazy nature is an incredibly smart, aware, and regal individual. He has an uncanny ability to tell when people near to him are suffering, and is usually the first one to do something about it. He has the ability to be a great leader, and is usually the one to take charge in grave situations. This being said, he is also capable of having orders given to him. It is because of this, that he was able to become King in the first place. Unlike his Wife, who never truly adapted to the thought of being a Queen, Artorias has no regrets about his title.

Artorias is undoubtedly easy to befriend, and gain his trust. However, there is only one person he has completely opened up to, and that is his Wife, Lunyxia. The two share an incredible bond, unbroken even when the two are eons apart, as is the case now. It is almost as if each can sense the other, when they are feeling hurt, or sad. As such, Artorias is incredibly protective of Nyx, and one of the surefire ways to make Artorias angry, is to threaten his Queen.

In battle, Artorias displays a calm demeanor, almost as if he could fight sleeping. His royal line were always to be protectors, and great fighters. As such, Artorias was trained at a young age, in the psychology of battle. He also brings his ability to easily read the people around him, and uses this to try and mess with his opponents, or boost the morale of his allies.

Artorias, since the death of Nyx's younger sister, has also developed a different personality. The Dark King, as it is known, is the result of Artorias's guilt, anger, and fury over his inability to save Altissia. There is, as of now, only one person who knows about this side of Artorias, and that is Nyx. She is the only one who can really bring the regular Artorias back out. This side of Artorias can be brought out by harming Nyx, gravely wounding Artorias, or by slaughtering innocent people.

Physical Traits: Artorias is a young looking, handsome man, with shoulder length, black hair, and deep, blue eyes, which can sometimes glow red. His bangs frame his face, and the back fringes up, into an almost spikey shape. He is kind of pale, but not unnaturally so. He has a skinny frame, but it hides a pretty good physique. He also carries himself with a royal bearing, being a prince, and eventual king.
Clothing: Artorias is almost always seen wearing a number of black outfits. He has three favorites, which he is usually seen in.


Artorias's main outfit consists of a black, sleeveless shirt, with a black, leather, short-sleeved coat, which reaches a little past his knees. It is usually zipped up, with the collar worn up. He has black, cloth pants, which also end a little past his knees. He has black, and grey combat boots, and black gloves on both hands. Around his waist is a belt, with pouches, for items.


His other outfit, was designed with a battle robe in mind. He wears a high collar sleeveless black shirt, black pants and boots, and black cloth covering his left leg and arm. Artorias gains a pauldron on his left arm, and his chest is covered by two straps, held in place by a badge representing a wolf.


His third outfit, is just a black suit. It consists of a grey dress-shirt, and a black suit jacket, buttoned up. He has a black tie to go with the shirt. He wears black dress pantsk, and shiny, black shoes. He only wears this to formal events, as he much prefers his other outfits. The suit is also light, and flexible enough to be fought in.

Accessories: He has a ring, which he wears on his left ring finger.




General Fighting Style: Being trained at a young age, in a variety of weapons, Artorias's main powers are based on his "Armagus". It is his ability to pull the weapons of his Ancestors, and utilize them in battle. His main weapon, however, is a sword, and is a master of it's use. Artorias is a very good "Hit and run" kind of fighter, quickly able to get in, strike hard, and get out. He is well versed in his other weapons as well, which include axes, maces, and even a giant throwing star. Artorias is also very calm on a battlefield, and uses his ability to read people, in order to confuse, mock, or even make an enemy angry. He can also use this, to boost morale amongst his allies, and keep them in the fight. He also is able to utilize his Armagus, and heal his allies, though he has to stay still to do this, and it's not something he can use on himself. His title is the King of Darkness, and he can also utilize this in combat. He has full control of Darkness, and can infuse it into his weapons, or teleport from place to place on a battlefield, a number of times.

Armagus: The Armagus, as stated above, is Artorias's main power, and is his way of dipping into the weapons, and powers of his fore-bearers. He can summon their weapons at will, but he has different limits, depending on what form he is in.
Normally, he can hold one weapon, while having another ready to switch out. He can switch them out, every other post.
In his Final Form, he still can hold one weapon, while having three he can switch out. This takes two posts, as it requires more control
In Hyper Mode, he can dual wield weapons, (not of opposing elements, of course), and he has 5 which he can switch out. Doing so takes 3 posts, however.
It will be stated which Former Ruler's weapons he is wielding, and the ones on stand-by.

Back Drop

Background: Artorias was the son of King Regis, the Crown Prince of Lucis and thus heir to the Caelum line. His mother, Queen Aulea, died when he was an infant. In his childhood, Artorias was the victim of the demon Marilith; the servants who accompanied him perished while Artorias was gravely injured, but he was saved by Regis and his attendees.

Artorias went into a coma and retreated into a dream world. He came under the protection of Carbuncle, a magical creature who helped him fend off attacks from an unknown force attempting to keep him from waking up. Afterward Artorias spent time in the country of Tenebrae recovering, where he befriended the young Princess Altissia, and her older sister, Lunyxia: while their time together was short, they bonded and forged secret promises. As the years went by, Artorias began to have feelings for Lunyxia, but he never had any idea that she felt the same way. So, he never went after her, leading to the next series of events.

When Artorias was 18, it was announced that he would be wed to Altissia, in order to forge a powerful bond between Lucis, and Tenebrae. Although he didn't feel that way for Altissia, he went through with it, if only to help his own country. However, it was all shattered, when, during a ball between the two countries, Altissia was assassinated. Artorias got there soon enough to save Nyx, who was with her sister, but Altissia was already dead. In a rage, Artorias brutally killed the assassins, manifesting his Dark King powers, and persona. It was at this moment, that Artorias fully came into his powers over the Darkness. It was also at this moment, that Artorias decided to perfect his powers, and his fighting style. Unknown to him, this is also the moment when Nyx grew to hate him.

And so, for the next few years, Artorias withdrew from the public eye, and trained himself to control his powers, and the powers of the Armagus, which he also unlocked during this time. The training involved Artorias going on a quest, with three of his most loyal retainers, to find the 12 weapons of his forefathers. As he gained these weapons, his power grew, and his much more wild personality, grew into the the man who the people knew of today. The laid-back, but still regal King. However, despite his best attempts, his Dark King persona still lingered, coming to the surface when he was mortally wounded, or when someone he cared about was harmed. And, he still felt guilt at not being able to save Altissia, and couldn't even send Nyx messages. The only person who he kept up with, was his father. Not even his father's most trusted general was privy to Artorias's location, or what he was doing. Finally, at the age of 21, Artorias returned home, the man who could be King
